Wireless Industry Gets in Tune With the Music Movement
Wireless industry events have literally been dancing to a different tune over the past few years thanks to the efforts of one woman, Stacie D’Agostino, the Founder and CEO of Music Movement. D’Agostino’s efforts, live music concerts benefiting a variety of causes, have frequently provided the social capstone to the industry’s biggest trade shows lately. WIA’s Connect (X), coming up May 14-16 in Atlanta, is a case in point. On May 15, one of the highlights of the day following a round of keynotes, sessions, panels and flat out schmoozing, is the Music Movement concert. The show features recording artist Niko Moon with an opening act by Harmful Interference, a lively band featuring WIA’s President and CEO, Patrick Halley.
Not only can attendees enjoy a headliner talent but they can debate the relative musical talents of WIA CEOs past and present (former WIA boss Joanthan Adelstein played a mean harmonica). More importantly, they can contribute to some worthy causes under D’Agostino’s direction that was inspired by seeing how music brought joy to people who were suffering from autism and various causes. “It touched me,” D’Agostino told Inside Towers, “but we wanted to create something that showed empathy for people without ‘feeling sorry’ for them.”
Founded in 2011, D’Agostino along with her husband, veteran industry exec Bill, now run a fully accredited 501(c)3 non-profit organization that serves the autism community and those with a learning difference on a national scale. Music Movement, what D’Agostino calls “our small but mighty charity,” hosts annual fundraising concerts and golf tournaments that are attended by professionals, corporate sponsors and key leaders in the wireless industry.
“We’ve reached major milestones of cumulative giving exceeding $550,000,” D’Agostino said. “Our core programs include individual grants for music therapy, instrument donations, partner donations to hospitals, public schools, special needs academies and likeminded non-profit organizations. We continue to ensure $.86 of every dollar raised flows directly to our programs.”
The Wireless Family Fund was established to offer crucial financial support for families in need within the industry, for any reason. D’Agostiono said their goal is to give back to the community that has supported her charity from its inception. She stressed that all financial transactions are managed by an independent accounting firm and all Board of Directors volunteer their time and leadership.
“We appreciate the opportunity to partner with WIA for our 8th Annual Charity Concert in conjunction with the 2024 Connect X Conference in Atlanta,” she said. “We would like to thank Vertical Bridge for returning as our Title Sponsor each year!”
A VIP pass includes appetizers and two drink tickets are included with the VIP ticket. All Connect (X) 2024 VIP passes include access to attend the concert. Non-VIP pass holders need to add on the concert ticket during the Connect (X) registration process. To add a concert ticket, click here.
